GREINPLAST KW

Glue for mineral wool

Used and to glue mineral wool boards to stable, mineral bases and to submerge fibreglass meshes (reinforcement layer). The product is classified as mineral gluing ground, with very good gluing properties and very good initial adhesion. The addition of anti-shrinking fibres improves workability, provides a micro-reinforcement effect and significantly increases the durability of plaster. It is an integral element of product ranges in Greinplast W, WS and WX insulation systems (according to applicable AT’s) and Greinplast MW (according to ETA).

Packaged in 25kg containers.

Preparation of dry set mortar: Empty the package (25 kg) into 6,2-6.7 l of clean water and stir well until a smooth mass is obtained. The volume of added water depends on the weather conditions and base absorbability. The mortar achieves its full working properties in 5 minutes, after which it should be stirred again. The usability time of mortar mixed with water is not longer than 2 hours.
Gluing mineral wool panels: Places in which glue will be laid on mineral wool panels should previously be luted with it. Glue on a mineral wool panel with lamellar fibre arrangement should be applied onto the entire surface, with a trowel with teeth sized at least 10 mm. On panels with chaotic fibre arrangement, glue should be applied along the edges, in belts at a minimum width of 3-4 cm, and on the remaining surface in several circles at diameters 8-12 cm. Panels thus prepared should be put on the wall immediately and pressed until even surface with the neighbouring panels is achieved. After placement, the overall surface of the applied gluing mass should cover at least 40% of the panel. Gluing wool panels with the application of only glue circles is not allowed.
Mesh sinking: The placement of a layer reinforced with a mesh on the surface of wool panels may take place only after 2 days have elapsed after gluing, and when the entire area has been previously floated and cleaned of loose fibres. Glue should be applied with a steel trowel at a thickness of ca. 2 mm, beginning from top, in belts at a width equal to that of the reinforcement mesh. Then, immediately sink the reinforcement mesh, pressing it into the mass with the trowel. At the next stage, apply a glue layer at a thickness up to 1 mm, until the mesh is fully covered. The entire thickness of the reinforced layer should be between 3 and 5 mm. Remember to retain 10-centimetre mesh margins where joints are located.

Recommendations and remarks

The façade surface should be shielded against rain, wind and excess sunlight until it is completely dry. Do not carry out any works when the ambient and base temperature is lower than +5°C. If, in the reinforced layer, lighter spots can be seen (lime efflorescence), it should be additionally primed with preparation GREINPLAST U, diluted at a suitable proportion. The building thermal insulation design specifies the necessity for carrier pins and their type (usually, when mineral wool is used with a load-bearing base up to 12 meters, they are not required). When wool with chaotic fibre arrangement is used, carrier pins must be used in every situation. The manufacturer requires that one of the following mesh types should be used (ST 2924-100/7 KM, TG15, TG22, Vertex 145/ AKE-145, SSA-1363 SM0,5) specified in AT and ETA. Glue in its autumn-spring version (as described on the unit package) should not be used in temperatures higher than +15°C.
Any attempts to change the composition of the product are not allowed, as they may considerably reduce its quality. Information contained in the manual help ensure the optimal use of the product, however, it does not create any legal liability of the Manufacturer, due to the fact that the conditions of use remain outside of its control. Glue consumption depends on the evenness degree at the base.
